As reported by the Knoxville News a new study links football to criminal domestic violence arrests. According to the study, entitled "Family Violence and Football: The Effects of Unexpected Emotional Cues on Violent Behavior" there is a spike in CDV arrests when the home team unexectantly loses a game. The increase is greater in games with more significance.
If there is in fact a connection between football games and domestic violence arrests it is likely related to the use of alcohol and the fact that many people stay home to watch the game. Most people arrested for CDV in South Carolina are arrested at home.
